This 2025 report by Healthwatch is a follow up to their 2024 ‘Love Driffield: Driffield and The Wolds Foodbank’ document.
The original report discussed a project that engaged with vulnerable residents and aimed to understand their health and social care issues. The project sought to hear the voice of seldom heard communities, especially those in rural areas, analyse the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on residents’ health and well-being, and support the local community through volunteering at the foodbank, offering advice and signposting, and creating social value.
This new report discusses the ongoing impact of the Love Driffield project one year after its launch, highlighting community support and initiatives that have emerged to address local challenges. These include:
- Community Support Initiatives: The Stronger Together Forum and Love Driffield have facilitated discussions on local challenges and solutions, leading to enhanced community engagement.
- Training for Volunteers: Yorkshire Health Partners (YHP) have provided training for Love Driffield volunteers, equipping them to handle clients facing complex issues such as mental health and domestic abuse.
- Access to Services: The report details the re-establishment of a drop-in advice service at Cherry Tree Community Centre and the introduction of Techy Tea CIC sessions aimed at improving digital skills among clients.
- Health and Wellbeing Focus: The Love Driffield Community Hub has expanded to support health and wellbeing services, including physical activity sessions, and has engaged with local councils to address the cost-of-living crisis.
